2022-10-21 at 3:15 PM UTCAsian countries seem to have picked up on Metal over the decades. especially like Philipines and Thailand and other south east asian countries.
iv' seen some good cover bands doing youtube.
but Post Punk/Gothic clearly started in the UK and has seen a resurgence in Asia Minor and the middle east and eastern europe in the last 20 years. I find it interesting but sad that in the US/Canada everyone worships Rap mostly. nothing wrong with some of the Rap or R&B if its really interesting or fuses with other styles of music. didn't P Diddy some decades back do some kind of rap with a rock band backing him up. now Rap suddenly sounds really cool and interesting. its that all digital 808 and no real musicians backing them which makes it boring and outdated a bit.
Black people were some amazing musicians in the Jazz and early rock and Soul era. it makes me sad how young people today have retarded their potential if they would just get out of lazy repetitive mode and explore.
Edited.. It might of been Germany that started the Gothic while UK followed the US regarding Punk and first for Post Punk (UK) -

2022-10-21 at 3:18 PM UTCAt the maritime museum there was this room to make you think you were at the bottom of the ocean, I felt instant fear and dizzy down there and am not sure why, if it was because I came from the ocean or something more current.

there were tons of Mexican and Hispanic Americans in Metal Bands in the USA. if you just look at last names it is clear.
But Gothic is big in Mexico right now and Im sure many other Latin American countries probably more in South America. Not sure if Brazil is considered Latin American since so many Germans live there and speak Portuguese (Which I guess is a form of Latin) but Brazil had lots. some bands formed in Manchester and had band members from Brazil. I can't remember if it was Wire or Magazine but they sing at least two songs in Portugues. -

2022-10-21 at 3:24 PM UTCIt didn’t feel like a fear of drowning or the dark, just being at the bottom of the ocean. Now that I think about it though when I did kayaking I freaked out because I could see the bottom of the lake and didn’t want to go in the water.

back when I was into metal I remember there were constant riots at black metal shows there, they took it super seriously
Gorgoroth in particular had a bunch of their shows shut down by the riot police halfway through, teargas fired into the crowd
***actually that was El Salvador apparently
