Federal judge dismisses FBI's evidence obtained through illegal hacking.

2016-04-22 at 10:14 AM UTCSo as some of you may be aware the CP site playpen got busted a while ago and the FBI basically continued to operate the site for several weeks after the admin was in custody , serving malware to the people downloading content from the hidden service. The FBI reckons that because they had a warrant for the computer systems related to playpen they were entitled to serve malware to it's clientele as well, which they hoped would lead to more busts. Reportedly a little over a thousand people were infected. However a federal judge has now decided to throw out the evidence collected in this manner since the FBI did not have a warrant to interfere with the systems of playpen's clientele.
Here's an article that goes into the details.

2016-04-25 at 1:40 AM UTCThis happened a year ago due to a zero day within FireFox. That one has been patched, that one. Who knows what the FBI has crafted since.

Only if the FBI presented evidence to my government through diplomatic means, which i would argue is unlikely to happen for silly old me. -
2016-04-26 at 6:29 AM UTCI can only imagine they'll appeal after shopping around for a friendlier venue and judge

2016-04-26 at 7:07 PM UTCThe FBI owes me a few hundred $$'s in BTC from both silk roads getting shut down. I have my login credentials and my balance history.
Guess where my coins landed.
