trying to work out if they're actually related at all, and if so whether it was lasers interfering with the satellites directly like KALINA/PERESVET or maybe something similar to HAARP changing atmospheric conditions so that signals have trouble making it to ground

it happened right after elon musk suggested that the ukraine and russia should negotiate a peaceful settlement.

naturally i thought it was elon himself that throttled ukrainians starlink just to remind them whos their god.

I think so, though not because there are "many" existing customers in those areas...but because the satellite coverage for those areas isn't good yet...they seem to be doing starlink launchest pretty much every couple of weeks. If you look at the user distribution map it's pretty much the low populated areas of North America that have it...and the east side..highest population...don't.

I expect they want X number of satellites up in the air before switching everyone on so the service doesn't get pulled down to nothing.

I seem to recall they "switched it on" before for some place when they had a disaster.

I'll sign up for the waiting list just as soon as my new address has an actual address.

By the time you have a house built and the one you're in now they'll prolly be there.

Hopefully. I guess I can live with the 12mb wifi available in the area for a few months...give me time to work on the land anyway.

Yeah not sure that would work, you register at the address it's being used at..I don't have an address where service is available. I'm pretty sure people who do wouldn't give up their right to have it either.

It's not just a dish in the traDISHonal sense either either...

The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

Yeah, I had some crappy 15mb "radio internet" service for the 1st 6 months I was here. I grabbed Starlink the 1st month it was available. It's by far the fastest connection I've ever had for $100/month and faster than some plans I've paid more for.
