I disagree. Many alternative medicines legitimately have no sound scientific evidence backing them. Dunning-Kruger is ubiquitous, some people are just downright retarded or nuts.
Think of the anti-vaxxers and the enormous problems they cause. Do you what the highest region found of people forgoing vaccination was? It was in an affluent area near Portland, Oregon or Seattle Washington, one of those. Marin County north of San Francisco in the bay area is also very affluent and something similar was found there.
There are a lot of educated, wealthy people that just somehow manage to be stupid and insane as everloving shit in certain ways for god knows what reason.

What's wrong with a cool wash cloth? It has no negative side effects and can do the job in most mild fevers that come out of the blue.
