You can listen to a brand new song 20 times but after 20-30 times it get s a bit old but if you listen to a song you haven't heard in years it sounds "better" even if it's an objectively worse song

what does this mean brain chemistryily

Same as eating chocolate...if you eat a few pieces of chocolate it's really good at first..but if you eat a shitload you get tired of it and want to puke.

Same with your shitty music you listen too except that makes everyone else want to puke too.

The first part relates to novelty and the brains love of new data, the second is priming and nostalgia where PREVIOUSLY known data is pleasurable to reexperience

This is called the 'yung lean effect'

Everyone hates it the fiest couple times then after hearing it a few..BOOM..fav new song and artist.

Its crazy really but ive had this happen to me with like 80% of yung lean songs...lean is my absolute fav rapper and this still happens with with like 80% of all the new releases from him

Thanks, I took AP Psychology in High School & Sociology in college ten years ago. Always had an interest in the study of the mind so I brush up on the subjects here and there. When I find psych books in thrift stores I generally buy them and read through them, same thing with the DSMs.

I think it’s when you start listening to the separate components that it gets boring. Maybe at the start you only hear the main one.
