… investigation shows the oil company understood the science before it became a public issue and spent millions to promote misinformation.

2022-08-26 at 5:26 AM UTCSome people are brainwashed so beyond hope that they actually think the world is full of people who never lie, always tell the truth, have no agenda, aren't being paid by anybody, have no ulterior motives, and the government loves everyone and cares deeply about them. If it wasn't so sad and pathetic, it would be amusing. These are people with extremely low IQs.
The It's the End of the World Hoax started way back in the '70s with the Global Cooling hoax. A new Ice Age. Everyone was going to die in 20 years. When that didn't materialize, they rebranded the hoax as Global Warming. Everyone was going to die in 20 years. Then , when that didn't happen, the hoaxters were in a very bad place, so they decided to rebrand the hoax once more as CLIMATE CHANGE. This way, whether it got cold or hot, everyone was still going to die in 20 years. But now we're 10 years into the latest 20-year End of the World Hoax and nobody's dead yet. -
2022-08-26 at 5:32 AM UTCthey actually knew theyd been lied too its just that that have invested so much in those lies that theres no way they can back pedal so the only option left is to double down on the lies and hopefully they wont be treated as a pariah.

2022-08-26 at 5:40 AM UTCThen they released Covid and they thought... wow... we might not even need that damned climate change hoax... we could just go on this alone. So they focused all their energies and resources into the Covid hoax they created and pretty well abandoned the climate change hoax. But then the Covid hoax began to unravel before their very eyes (keep in mind that these people are extremely stupid, to the point of literal mouth breathers), and they were like...shit... we gotta go back to the climate change hoax! So they all got in lockstep again and abandoned their Covid hoax and now they're back to the original hoax.

2022-08-26 at 12:23 PM UTCDenial occurs after we have taken in information and consciously reject it to avoid an uncomfortable truth. William Catton termed this behavior ‘ostrichism’ or the strategy of sticking your head in the figurative sand and expecting an issue to go away or persistent belief nothing will change and refusal to face facts.
