Back in England when I was ignorant of African Americans I wasn't really racist against them…it's having come to know them that has resulted in the racism…so quite the opposite of what you are suggesting.

sounds like justification based on a logical fallacy

    exposure is not understanding

So tell me, what am I not understanding about African Americans...that if I did understand would change my general view of them.

I guess you could say that we fear anything we don't like in that, you're scared of how that thing does or might make you feel, which would be an unpleasant feeling.

    fear
    /ˈfir/
    Learn to pronounce
    noun
    noun: fear; plural noun: fears

an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

My dislike of sprouts doesn't really align with any of that...same with my dislike of African Americans.

I'm sure there is a recipe out there somewhere that could make the sprout delicious...as there are also likely African Americans who might tickle my fancy...however, they are so few and far between it's best to go with the generalized view of them rather than waste my time looking for that one sprout on the slave ship that is "good".

Generalizations and stereotypes exist for a reason...to save you wasting your time looking for "that one good one".

You lack empathy and personal experience with the community, as well as knowledge of current scientific data regarding the objective differences between ethnic groups.

Suffice it to say, if you were more educated, you would not be so ignorant, so fearful, and so bigoted.

Your age only complicates this. The fact you are so inflexible says things, neurologically, about the lifestyle you have led for the past idk how many decades.

You aren't even open to new ideas. You wont discuss things on objective ground. You are always opinionated, always biased, never listening or considering that other people have come to conclusions that are just as logical as yours feel to you.

    Try LSD, idk.

All that is fine and well and you're free to make your generalizations. I'm just saying that if you don't like brussel sprouts, it could be easily semantically argued that it's because you fear them as posing a THREAT to your body making it feel not the way you like your body to feel.

Well no, I know sprouts are actually good for the body...I still don't like them though because they taste like ass and smell like farts.

That's called personal bias and intelligent people attempt to see beyond it.

    Let me rephrase it then

Its okay to not like a type of food because of its immutable characteristics.

The latter is what I meant by you fearing how your body will react to it. Obviously I'm talking specifically your sense of taste and smell not the actual nutritional value of brussel sprouts.

You fear brussel sprouts because they taste and smell unpleasant to you and that amounts to a threat against your well-being.

food avoidance is an evolved trait that has helped us protect ourselves from bad food for millions of years.

    Similar to our tribalistic nature

    Some people eat like shit

    Some people act like shit

it is what it is. But if you want to be healthy and civilized, you wont' do those things.

That's not fear though (per it's definition), it's simply acceptance that I already know I'm not going to like them...tasting bad doesn't equate to being a threat to one's well being.
