My boss has it and it cost $500 to install and like $110 a month and it will lose signal in a bad storm but it's better than dsl which was his only other choice.

Nah I think it's cool but a bit expensive if you have other options. Cellular is cheaper if service is available.

I got two cellular plans for less than one starlinks, I'm 'allowed' to move the equipment, two carriers offers redundancy, doesn't need line of sight to the sky.

I spent more on equipment than starlinks modem costs. I'd still like to do starlinks or a competitor probably if/when the price gets around 80/mo

The place I'm hoping to move to has 12mb (scoff) connection via ATT. Wireless doesn't appear to be available I've checked a couple and both said no service in that area.

I figure I'd get the ATT shit until starlink goes live by the end of the year (hopefully if that's true). I guess till then I'll be on 2002 era connection speed :/

If you want to do any experimenting on it, with an antenna mast and maybe directional antennas you could probably get a good signal and good speeds. If you already have a mast for OTA television you might be able to use it. If you go 2 or 3 miles down the road does your phone have service?

Yeah starlinks would be way easier to set up and cheaper equipment

My phone has service there (ATT), when I said "no service" I mean't the wireless home internet people like Verison and Earthlink etc don't offer their wireless home internet in that area. I though Earthlink did initially with a 100mb connection but further investigation..they don't. The 12mb ATT is hardwired DSL (I assume it's DSL)

The new place is 50 miles from work...my current place is 38 miles from work...Currently living in N Houston...I work SW Houston...as such right now my commute is all the way through the city on all the worst congested roads...my commute in the morning (because I leave early before rush hour) is about 45 mins...my commute home is usually 1.25 - 2hrs depending on how many stupid Americans crash into each other.

The commute from the new place is only 50 mins - 1hr and only on one freeway which is only busy within the confines of the city...90% of that trip is 70mph all the way...then 5 miles off freeway on empty roads.

    That's a win nigger.
