why not just stop smoking? Self discipline will go along way, if you can't even reliably wake up at 9am as an adult, I'm pretty sure self discipline is something you need to work on. Taking medication to help you achieve something without fixing the root core of your problems will likely lead you into the same self destructive behaviors your careless attitude has already achieved.

Didn't you take this once before, and it didn't work?

Have you ever considered Zyban instead? It's bupropion, same thing as Welbutrin, and is a mild stimulant that works partially on nicotine receptors and is better for some people than Chantix. I've heard Chantix causes mood swings, irritability, and disturbed sleep.

What, bupropion? Been there done that, the weak norepinephrine high isn't worth the trouble of doing it.

Yeah it's a common side effect it seems. I forget the exact mechanism of action that causes it to happen, but for a stop smoking aid it has a side effect profile comparable to like SSRIs.

All my friends who I know that quit successfully did it either cold turkey, or by switching to vaping, even if it is temporary. Plus with vaping you can taper yourself down if you want by just buying weaker strength nicotine liquid each time. For a lot of smokers it's not just the nicotine they are addicted to, but also the whole ritual of smoking, holding something in your fingers, inhaling and blowing out smoke etc. Vaping lets you still do all that unlike using patches or gum.

It's honestly different for everyone, there's no set in stone best way imo.

I have a friend who used to be 100% one of those "vaping is gay/lame" people, until he finally cracked a couple months ago and tried it since he wanted to quit cigarettes. He hasn't smoked a single one since and says he wishes he did it sooner.
