I got my first paycheck and it was pretty lame.

2022-08-04 at 3:39 PM UTCI thought with getting an almost $6 an hour raise that my check might look kinda decent for once.
Only had a few hours of OT on the check but after taxes, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, HSA contribution, 401k and Roth 401k contributions I only ended up with $1705.47 for 2 weeks.
I really need to get that number to the $2k mark.
I'm doing alright on my OT this week so time will tell if that makes any difference at all.
Before signing up for all that insurance and retirement bullshit I was bringing home $1500 every 2 weeks while making $5.73 less an hour.
Uncle Sam is a nigger. -
2022-08-04 at 4:02 PM UTCYou think it's bad now.
Just wait uncle joe isn't done yet. -
2022-08-04 at 4:07 PM UTCIn the last 18 months I went from $13.35/hr to $25.73/hr which seems like it would be awesome but keeping up with inflation is very tasking and already has me thinking of what my next move will be.
I'd probably be better off investing in a skill or degree at this point but there just is not a lot that really stands out or grabs my attention that I could see myself tied to doing for decades on end. -
2022-08-04 at 4:49 PM UTCMake sure you're putting at least $100 a week in a savings account and forgetting about it.

Anyway back then the graphics card to have was a Voodoo 2 and as I recall it was about $200. On our day off I said I'd pick him up and we'd go buy one. So I got to his house and he took me in his bedroom (no not for nobbing) and he had a cookie tin on the bed...he said to me "How much is it going to be"...I said "200 or so".
He opens the cookie tin and it's FULL of $100 bills, there was thousands in there.
I said "ummm Don't you think you should keep all that in the bank or something"
he said "I don't trust banks, I bury this along with the other tins in my yard"
...I was sorely tempted to go by his yard one night with a shovel. -

2022-08-04 at 8:32 PM UTCMoney is going to be worthless in 10yrs anyway what with the collapse of western civilization well on it's way to fruition. Just work on getting your compound ready, a well, a septic, solar, some chickens and lots of ammo.

2022-08-04 at 8:33 PM UTCNigga that's like 40k a year, that sucks, I've made that in a month before. Start valuing your time and money more and others will learn to do the same

one time I had $2k in my bank and the government froze my bank saying I owe back taxes, took half, the bank took half of what was left for "overdraft" fees and when I called the governmeent to have by bank unfrozen they said they have no record why it was frozen and unfroze it, had no idea where my money was
also I was 18 years old at the time and that was my life savings so it set me back for years. I have been obsessed with cryptocurrency ever since, never lost A FUCKING PENNY to crypto except when the FBI raided silk road and I had $100 worth of BTC on there but at least I had more of an understanding and reason than LOL YOU GOT jediED!!!! -
2022-08-04 at 8:45 PM UTCkeeping money physical is just dumb but still better than a bank at least if someone takes it you know where it went and can find the person and burn their house down
if you burn down a bank you will not even be close to the source of who fucked you -

2022-08-04 at 9:02 PM UTCthat's not losing it though that's losing value which is it's own bullshit. It sucks that crypto is all a huge ponzi scheme but I still feel better with 0.00002 bitcoin worth $100 less than when I "bought it" than I do with $100 in my bank that can be taken any time from the government
And this CELCIUS BITBNANCE LOCKED MY FUNDS!!! is dumb. Not your keys not your coins simple as.
If you have a wallet keyphrase written down IN YOUR MIND nobody can EVER EVER EVER touch your coins

only if you plan on selling your labor until you die which is not much of a plan as you are relying only on yourself and if you get hit by a bus and lose an arm your entire career can go down the drain but if you had alterantive income streams outside just selling labor you could lose all kinds of limbs and it wont affect your goals and lifestyle
-
2022-08-05 at 2:22 AM UTCjust sell your labor until you die BUT BUY A HOUSE ADN RENT IT OUT LOL EZZZZZZ
