Ok well imo that’s a little silly. Marilyn Monroe was an abnormal standard of beauty that most people won’t ever achieve. She is regularly described as being a size 14, but by today’s measurements she would be a size 6-8. Was she attractive, yes? Has anything she’s ever done empowered me? No.
It is obvious to me that you relate to her, but I don’t. I don’t base my body image or self esteem on her.
Tbf, if anything has made me feel good about my body it’s Lanny telling me he thinks I’m beautiful every day and the work that I’ve done to get where I want to be physically. Not some dead bitch I don’t know. -
2022-07-27 at 3:05 AM UTCI remember reading that MM was uncomfortable in her skin too and somewhat insecure which is kinda what makes her a more powerful symbol for women, overcoming issues "take me as I am" even while not feeling the best about yourself
OK I'll stop manicpost mansplaining about Marilyn Monroe and leave you GALS to it -

she didn't have any kids
That whole "woman's movement" thing sounds like one of those phenomena that ends itself, so doesn't even need further thought.
You want to be career grl, you be career grl, you roar, you die, some Indian in an arranged marriage takes your house. -

I can honestly imagine MM saying something similar. This kinda embodies the spirit I/other people see in her too
The thing about being a Ho is everyone acts like/thinks they know you but they really don't. When you give so much of yourself away, everyone gets the piece they want but sometimes there isn't much left for yourself. MM was everything to everyone to a literal iconic extent and still exhibits/embodies beautiful and tragic energy. Finding that within yourself can be difficult so alot of people try to channel hers. Kudos to anyone who can attain a similar radiance in their own life and don't give it away so freely. She's without a doubt a cautionary tale -

Loneliness was tough!
The toughest role you ever played
Hollywood created a superstar!
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you died…!
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say..
Was that
“Marilyn was found in the NUDE!”

Goodbye Norma Jean
From the young man in the twenty second row!!
Who sees you as something more than sexual !
More than just our Marilyn Monroe

2022-07-27 at 10:33 AM UTCjust had an encounter that reminded me of marylynn's zit - i was standing in line at the post office today, there was a middle-aged worker helping us. Looking at me, he spoke up, "Do you mind if I ask you a question?" Almost instantly, I knew he was probably about to ask me about my birthmark. (As 99.999% of questions from total strangers are about that very topic.) Replying with a smile, I told him, "Sure."
Then, instead of asking me a question, he told me, "My daughter has the same birthmark as you do. And actually, so does my niece. I know many people can be unkind with how they react to birthmarks like yours, but just ignore them. You are beautiful."
Wowzers.
Dear sir...Thank you for your kindness. You're making the world a more beautiful place. -
