I can’t answer any of that with anything other than speculation. It was the 60s and it seemed like people did still try to maintain some sense of decorum. Maybe Jackie wanted it covered up and didn’t want to be further embarrassed? Idk.
It is interesting to see Marilyn described as smart/empowered/in control but also being taken advantage of.
Personally I think if Marilyn had lived a longer life she wouldn’t be nearly as famous as she is today. Same thing with James Dean, Elvis, etc. People fetishize celebrities who die young/tragically.

The truth is as gorgeous as her puffy nipples may have been, it was her CHARACTER that stood out to me, what I'm so fondly attracted to. Her character. Her essence.
