"Automatic" in wristwatches watches means mechanical mechanism, with some form of self-winding.
The watch I ordered is a Seiko, which is a fairly cheap option, while not the cheapest not even a downpayment on a swiss watch, but fairly good brand all the same. I got one that you can switch the strap on easily.
Downsides are with mechanical watches you don't get any battery, so no light. There is glow-in-the dark on the dial (not radioactive tritium on this one, tritium would be cool to have but is way more expensive). The watch also runs out of energy if you don't wear it in a few hours, and even if you don't move your arms enough. Also mechanical mechanisms are far less accurate than quartz time keeping, so you can expect to lose or gain a few seconds a day.
The only real upside is that the mechanism is cool. Modern automatic watches all have glass bottoms, so you can see the mechanism going.

Ya the faggy watch I have right now doesn't light up either, all my Timex Expedition ones do. I've seen teh tritium ones, that's pretty cool. I move a lot in my sleep so I'm sure it'll stay powered. I don't mind losing a minute a week.

Just got this watch from some rich junkie who came in and didn't have cigarettes. 38 cigarettes (about 10$) & 1 cherry cokecola I found two weeks ago in a box next to the trash.
He went from wanting 50$, to wanting 20$, to wanting 10$ and a pack of cigarettes, to the two packs I had in my pocket minus the two I smoked while I was haggling.
