The most important is that humanity in general are not "slaves" in the Matrix universe. They are probably the most well treated POWs of all time.
The backstory is that AI emerged in the Matrix world and decides to fuck off and create its own country because it doesn't like being enslaved but doesn't want to hurt or interact with humanity much at all. But AI country does too well for itself, so well that humanity attacks it and then loses. AI country forgives them, humanity attacks it again and loses again. This time AI country creates a more permanent, (naively) morally ideal solution, which is that it puts all of humanity into their own personal simulated heaven, where all their needs and desires are met, while using the humans as metabolic batteries. As a result they are fundamentally productive for even being alive, and rewarded for it with perfect bliss.
But humanity eventually gets bored with their personal heavens and thinks it's too gay, then basically ask for an MMORPG that resembles the normal world they inhabited before, coupled with a collective memory reset so nobody knows they are in a virtual world and get discontent with it. The AI finds this to be morally acceptable. Thus setting in motion the events of the film.
Then the relationship between those characters is literally about different ways of dealing with their epistemic/ontological condition. Not "slavery".
Agent Smith is decidedly not the "slave master". A central part of his character is that he is exactly as much of a "slave". He's literally a multiply expendable, interchangeable cog in the machine that is identified by a generic name. He isn't even a real person.
Morpheus isn't just trying to "wake up the slaves". He disagrees that having a phenomenological position where you can't determine your ontological situation means the ontology is irrelevant.
Cypher isn't just "happy to be a slave". He comes realize/be convinced that ultimately the steak is actually juicy and delicious to him. No matter how Morpheus tries to put it, whether or not he even agrees with whether knowing the ontological truth is possible, it's just irrelevant. The "prize" he wins for rebelling against the matrix would be living in a shitty post apocalyptic world with no higher power to make sure nothing goes too wrong. Humanity would just be free to screw itself some other way. He just gets a different, shittier experience that is nevertheless "truer". But he's convinced that the "truthfulness" is just irrelevant then why should he do that?
Now realize that I don't particularly love the Matrix and haven't watched the series in a long time, didn't really keep up with the expanded universe (watched some Animatrix back in the day tho). This is all stuff I just know because the series was INSANELY heavy handed on metaphors. Like Babby's First Filosofy Story.
If you actually like the series enough to make a meme about it, how did they ever end up at "le slaves"? -

I talked to Obbe after he stopped posting and he was going through a rough time after losing some people close to him. Captain falcon made some cringey attention seeking comments and he thought it was too gay and losery to continue posting here. I sent him a message on here a month or so ago asking how he was doing and didn't hear anything back. I think he gave me another contact info but I'll look some other time

2022-07-13 at 3:18 AM UTCMy friend got murdered a year ago today. They charged a blax a few months later and still haven't found him. They charged his ex with accessory and she pretended to go blind due to diabetes or something idk, then they dropped the charges and she miraculously gained her sight back. My friend was a good man who was killed by someone he thought was his friend out of jealousy. I've replayed our last interaction (probably 24-36 hours before his death) many times and thought about butterfly effext shit that would have changed it but of course that's wishful magical thinking. I just wish he was alive because he was a good guy who was a Lil different than most and shouldn't be defined by how he died. He touched alot of lives and its a shitty feeling when you like so few people and someone you do like dies
