   The cold doesn't need a lock (or the heat). So thats the only reason to have a door in the first place. as for windows, to let light in. thats all. keep weather out and lights in. and bugs too.. but a bug screen won't keep cold out.
   
   Locks are only detourants as far as I can see. you can place an alarm on your house but you get fined everytime it goes off. so whats the point?
