If you're in the mood I'd ask for all three of those versions but technically I was asking for the most believable reason you could come up with off the top off your intelligent head.

Peak athletic ability and consequently performance are a function of an athlete's age among many other factors. However general physical fitness tends to go down with age. In modern times we've seen that age go down as low as late twenties and early thirties. While overall still a great athlete, the loss of performance on the part of Russel Westbrook, while at present minimal in a physical sense. Has had a troubling effect on his mental state. If you're worried about other things than winning the game, your head ain't in it. And you'll perform worse than usual. If these worries are rooted in the fact that he believes himself to be beyond prime physical fitness, every single lost shot/lost game will be attributed and seem to confirm his worries. This confirmation bias starts a downward trend and has a compounding effect on his mental state and that's why The Russel Westbrook experiment failed.
