Collect old microwaves and rip out the High Voltage Transformers and Capacitors. Those can be used for fun by utilizing the High Voltage stuff in a Tesla Coil. See if you can build one so energetic that the bolts give off X-rays when they strike various molecules present in air. Smelling Ozone is good.
You can also use the HV transformer to create what is called Lichtenberg Figures, in say, something like wet wood.
Base jumping while smoking base, seems neat.
I'll just write this regarding High Voltage stuff, if your transformer is energized you only need to grab one main terminal out and it will become extremely exciting. The voltage is such that even if you're wearing sturdy boots with rubber soles, the electricity won't care. And complete a circuit to ground anyway.
Oh if you grab something that's hooked up to the business end without the proper protection you won't be able to let go. Anyway try not to scream too loudly when you die, oh wait you won't be able to due to acute respiratory paralysis. Lol. -

If you're talking about the youtuber, he has 25 years experience in EE, and you can do some tricks to make things look energized, when they are not, and actually properly insulating the ground. Also, banging HV Capacitors with a screwdriver that is well insulated is fine, and something you should do even if the capacitor has a drain port.
If you like that kind of stuff you should check out StyroPyro. He's great at looking like a complete idiot that's one mistake away from instant death at all times, but he has a Master Degree, in applied physics, specifically specialized in high voltage and lasers.
