   same conclusion i came to about therapy. my therapist is a cool guy and we have a lot of common interests but he's really not that good of a therapist and doesn't offer me anything i cant get from simple introspection or an internet search

   Oftentimes benefits are obtained, but the patient does not realize it right away. Give it time. If not, however, you try the next guy/gal. Just like you would try the next drug, if the 1st one wasn't working properly. Therapy and self-improvement is a lifelong process, not a quick one or two step solution.
