Work to the end. Then go to the start because now you have material for a characters background
Then you heavily edit anything that denotes holes in the story or connotative fact lines -

Yeah I thought about that but I'm trying to make it into a whole story like maybe that could be the opening of it and then could add to it or I don't know maybe the main guy becomes a hero or a villain or something that's why I need help with it -

I write gay lil short stories sometimes but just started writing a longer form one that's been kicking around my head for some time. It's basically about a farmer who keeps finding dead bodies.
I really want to write a non fiction book about someone who is still alive and is suspected of killing 7-10 people, I don't think any were women and none were sexually motivated, some had to do with horse training. He was just found not guilty of murder a year or so ago in the only case that made it to trial. The police publicly named him as a suspected serial killer and he won a huge lawsuit, then he ripped down a radio tower while he was under police surveillance for murders and eventually beat the charges after a long trial. He's still alive and lives in an old folks home and is notoriously unfriendly so it would be hard to interview him.
