Check the seams of your mattress. You'll see them, or evidence of them being there, if you have bedbugs.

OMFG I thought bed bugs were a myth, but last november my fucking car just died out of nowhere, so I lost my job, and the bitch on the other side of the wall moved out so the retard maintenance guys busted the pipes trying to fix stuff and all these weird bugs and ants stormed into my place, the maintence guys came in and accused me of having bugs because of my cat who'd never had bugs before and was always inside my place.
We both had bed bugs and I was freaking out thinking I was going to be homeless and sploo was making fun of me telling me I'm an alcoholic and that I'm going to die, and by cat and I were just scratching each other. Luckily things got better and we got medicine and bug bombed the place but I hate bugs.
I keep my place like super clean but because I live next to a creek and when it rains I get weird white spiders walking around in my place. it sucks so much

What you should do is get flee/bug medication regardless of if you have a cat, the liquid kind in little bottles, and squirt it around your matress.
