   Do you think, right now a planet much like our own has technology of around 1940s with a Hitler type leader about to wage a World War but all their machinery is far superior to that of any other nations which at best have cannons and perhaps muskets

   The logical thing for aliens to do is for more advanced races to kill off less advanced races and replace them demographically.
   
   Certainly I would expect that generally the race which is first to develop nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them at long range would rule the entire planet.
   
   I feel like it's kinda weird how on earth America developed nukes first, then instead of saying "we win, you will now submit" they waited for everyone else to steal the technology from them.
