  1. Originally posted by AngryIVer No, unlike covid, water damaged concrete and foundation damage is a serious issue that not enough people take seriously. Look at the Surfside collapse last year. Concrete doesn't last as long as people think it does unmaintained. You can CLEARLY see in the video that the foundation is compromised.

The mold honestly isn't even the biggest concern here, it's the clear foundation damage and water coming in causing additional damage, mixed with the fact it's creating a high humidity environment which causes damage to the floor joists and support beams.

Then you have chucklefucks like Fonaplats taking advice from people like you just adding fuel to the fire.

If the house doesn't collapse it will eventually get enough water damage that the mold will start causing problems.

the surfside collapse was caused by the building of building 87 next door that damaged the retaining wall of its foundation.

the lawsuit is ongoing and no one has determine what were the real causes.

They didn't damage it, they allowed more water to get into it. The water damaged it. Building Integrity did a great piece on this, and a few other scenes about how water effects un-treated concrete.

he specifically said it was one of the possibilities. NOT A DEFINITE CAUSE.

which is why multiple parties are involved in litigation as the defendent.

it might be the developers fault, the engineers, or builders of either building.

I find it funny that this thread has devolved into fighting over concrete walls when, in the initial video (post 63) of the basement, it is plain to see that the foundation is made of mostly stone with cement mortar. I have the same type of foundation and my walls are 18" thick.
  5. by fonas standard, this thread has evolved into a supersapien being.

I think the best part is concrete is only one of the materials I listed. Either way it's crumbing and water is getting in.

In any case it doesn't appear to be coming from the window, because you'd see water marks running down the wall.

It's cool that you kind of seem to know what you're talking about though which is cool.

TBH i didnt bother to watch the entire video.

all i know is flooding is common and cements can last hundreds of years if theyre merely exposed to fresh water from common weathering.

Honestly I didn't either, nor did I have the sound on so idek if Fona already knows where the leak is coming from. I watched far enough to see the puddle.
