2022-02-18 at 11 PM UTCWhat's wrong with standing on concrete? You too good to stand now? Trailer park goy?
-
2022-02-19 at 12:36 AM UTCHonestly, I would think standing on firm concrete would be better than standing on a rubber matte that sags slightly and throws your back off-kilter when not standing perfectly or symmetrically straight.

You'd think, but it's a really well documented thing. Long term standing on concrete causes back and neck problems, shin splints, and minor shit like bunions and ingrown nails. Companies can actually get in big trouble for not providing the mats because it's a huge OSHA violation.
Here's an article about it: https://www.ishn.com/articles/103571-can-you-stand-it-prolonged-standing-puts-millions-at-risk
I know having worked places where you spend 12 hours a day on concrete I can def tell the difference between having the mat and not having it. -

The situation is fucked and there is just no real fixing it given today's options.
This weekend I'm going to maybe check out the clearance flooring at Home Depot and that might be all I do.
I saw some big rugs on clearance there but they didn't have price tags. -
2022-02-19 at 4:20 PM UTCJust for future reference:
You're welcome. -
2022-02-19 at 4:41 PM UTCtheres nothing more honorable in this world that a man could do other than raising someone elses kid.
cats and lions would just kill her cubs and kittens but men arent like that. -

Even though I went to the correct isle and bay I did not see any in stock.
I did see other options although I wasn't prepared to change my game plan with 20 minutes until the store closed.
I was really hoping on spending $700 on carpet tile.
For $700 you could just about to epoxy. -
2022-02-19 at 9:56 PM UTCOPie just keep going in and grab free carpet samples and lay them down like tile

Even on clearance you'll still be way more into it than if you got a cheap rug or something -

I worked a few jobs on "the-line" assembly worker. using spot welding and running a hydraulic compresser to stamp out giant sheets of steel into parts.
but we never spent more than a standard 8 hour day. 2 hours, 15 break, 2 hours, half hour lunch, 2 hours, break then 2 hours.
no union but the boss ran a tight shift.
I'v worked triple shifts standing and barely enough time to take a piss and had to eat my lunch while working because no one could leave the counter. working at SFO. then the big Quake Hit...LOL
I had a Job working in the VIP section and it was my first night. that happened after 2 separate 3 shifts in a row. good pay, but I slept the entire day off. anyways I was outside when the quake happened. I was lucky. several people had serious injuries. one a broken arm blood coming off of her. and another a skull fracture. heavy ceiling tiles and art works came down on people and even a water main fell on some lady. I think she passed away.
up the street from the airport some buildings, the facade came down and crushed cars. some people died from that. then the Cypress Freeway in Oakland. I could see the smoke coming up from it from across the bay. We had someone park a car with the Radio on turned up to listen to the report. they were talking about a section of the Bay Bridge collapsed but it was just a roadway. no one died initially but then someone drove the opposite way and fell into the whole killing the driver.
then they started talking about the cypress. we couldn't go anywhere for hours. no power. lights out everywhere. a road bridge next to us (we were next to freeway 101) was sagging. so they had to reroute traffic. I had to find side roads to take back to San Francisco where I lived at the time.
Life will throw us these wonderful experiences to remember. sad people died. but it shows how people function. it goes from very rude "Fuck you" to people suddenly becoming calm and taking turns at an intersection. or someone actually playing traffic cop to push traffic through more safely.
people suddenly risking their lives to helping others. this good nature lasts about a week before the world goes back to it's normal crime infested Go Fuck Yourself moments :) -
2022-02-20 at 12:43 AM UTCYou abandoned your cats and they're all alone in a lonely apartment. One day, you'll forget they're there and they will die of thirst or starvation.

2022-02-20 at 4:10 PM UTCthis happened to me in July, mostly i just didnt wanna drive the half hour home in a stolen car to visit my drunk mom and hear her say racist things about my then girlfriend and what she needs me to do around the house for her.
i visited once, like 3 weeks in, rotated water, fed my fish, took my two favorite snakes with me.
Then, 5 1/2 months later I came back and everything was dead. i left my snakes with my ex cuz she genuinely loved them a lot and I hadn't loved them in a long time
Meh. 6 years of breeding, bonsai, and fish keeping thrown away because I didn't wanna see my mom. -
2022-02-20 at 5:31 PM UTCThat's fucked up. Bonsai and fish are really time consuming, or at least can be. I'm in the process of trying to get my aquarium on track but my wife keeps overfeeding them and making the water look like shit.
