2022-01-05 at 3:03 PM UTCI read Antimatter by Fraser and got lost somewhere. It said antiparticles are particles going backwards in time? Then it said there’s antiparticles in protons. Does this mean we’re going back in time just as we’re going forward in time?

2022-01-05 at 3:43 PM UTCI think anti matter is a fabrication in order to explain things that we currently don't understand.

Except we can create and detect it. Plus the math predicts it.
Anti-matter just means normal matter with the opposite charge. An electron has a certain charge, take something exactly like an electron and uno reverse the charge and you get a positron AKA an anti-electron.
Also OP you were probably reading about something breaking time symmetry. I don't think that's allowed by the laws of nature. Look up CPT Symmetry. Finally protons have positive charge electrons negative charge but an anti-proton has to be made out of anti quarks. Normal ones go two UP quarks one DOWN quark. I think if you do two DOWN quarks one UP quark you just get a neutron.
Reality is weird. -
2022-01-06 at 12:53 AM UTCAlso time is relative. But it has an arrow, a preferred way of going. Interestingly the faster you travel through space the slower you travel through time. But you can't go back in time because you'd need to go faster than the speed of light. And that's VERBOTEN.

2022-01-06 at 1:36 AM UTCIsn't the opposite of an electron a proton

It said the protons have quarks and antiquarks which flash on/off. I will look up CPT symmetry thanks. -

Do you have any book recommendations? -

I do, but i mostly like astrophysics and cosmology. Not particle physics, or quantum mechanics. That said: The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene. Even though String Theory is wrong. It covers a lot of the basics on time, particle physics, quantum mechanics and string theory.
If you were just playing in the OP, scientific papers on these subjects are freely available. IDK how deep you wanna go, please tell me before i recommend something that won't make a lot of sense without a lot of background info. -

Flash in and out of existence perhaps? Those are virtual particles, and it has something to do with vacuum energy, i know that sounds counter intuitive, but The Universe is expanding and that energy seems to come out of nowhere either. Like i said reality is weird, also i am not a physicist lel. -
