Lancer rough idle problem

    It is a 2010 Lancer base model.
    When I KBB it I get like $2.5k - $4k

    Also I just realized while double checking this that all my decisions over the past week have been made on trade in values and not private party sales...

    The trade in value was between $750-1500
    I was just betting I could get $3k because of the market right now.
    But private party value has it between $2600-4100

    Now I don't feel so bad if I put a little more into it and try asking $3500.

    Going to try just cleaning it off along with the throttle body.

    Might have more codes but I'm out of time today.

    The fuck do you mean "out of time" and "Might"? I've never seen a scanner that doesn't list them as code X of Y and all in a row.

    Took the Lancer to a mechanic today.
    I'm working too many hours to have any free time to fuck with it.
    Hopefully it doesn't cost more than a couple hundred bucks to fix.

    I got rid of my "Mass Airflow Sensor" trouble code for about $30. $22 or so for a new sensor and $8 for a can of carb cleaner to clean the throttle body. Fixed the code and got me through inspection to get new plates. Lasted for several months before I got a new "check engine" light that I haven't checked but I assume is the same issue. Need to go back to Auto Zone to use their scanner again but probably not until spring insofar as as the car seems to be fine except for the light being on.

    I suspect my problem may be oak pollen. My neighbor has three 80 foot oaks near my property line and probably only 40 feet or so from where I park the car. In the spring my car turns yellow from all the pollen and in the fall you can't walk in the front yard without crunching acorns.

    um, its a Lancer,,,also Not a Toyota, A Toyota is harder to find at a good money making price BUT if you spend the time and save the loot for the moment you find that toyota you actually get a money making toyota instead of having to throw money trying to fix the bucket of trash you spend trying to make enough to get a toyota.

    side note never buy a toyota tacoma that hasnt had the frame replaced.

    unless you fondled it like a bad bitch and stuff ur fingers everywhere slapped it around and pinched the shit out of it till you know its an ok frame

    MAF is a simple DIY job, spray with a can of electrical contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol for $10 & 20 minutes or buy a new one & install for 50-60$ & 45 minutes. Don't throw $ @ a fucking Lancer son lol (shakes head).

    A mass air flow sensor will never give a "ROUGH IDLE".
    Simple trick with the engine off unplug the MAF,Start engine, does it still idle like shit? guess what the MAF is not the problem.
    The problem is a worn out shit box that has to go to the fucking salvage pit.
    Be done with it and move on.

    Here are some of the most common symptoms of a faulty mass airflow sensor:
    The engine is very hard to start or turn over.
    The engine stalls shortly after starting.
    The engine hesitates or drags while under load or idle.
    Hesitation and jerking during acceleration.
    The engine hiccups.
    Excessively rich or lean idling.

    Hesitant idle is one of the main symptoms of a bad MAF lol. But yeah throwing $ @ mechanics behind a simple ass Lancer is asinine.
