I was playing around with the AR capabilities of my iPad earlier, I brought up a model of the Mac Pro on my floor and walked around in awe of the positional tracking and future possibilities.
This is just prehistoric stuff, akin to the DK1 days of virtual reality.
Just imagine how sophisticated and awesome augmented reality will be five to ten years from now.
I'm stoked for Apple's first generation HMD even and I'm sure it'll blow away the competition.
Just imagine how awesome it'll be to walk around with an HMD and see the AR models in your space, not having to view everything holding a smartphone or tablet.
I'm super excited for the more simple and niche stuff, like having a virtual turntable that takes your digital collection and transforms it into a virtual-tangible experience, or having an old timey tv that plays recordings of Adolf Hitler speeches.
I know virtual teleconferencing is going to be the biggest draw for the masses, there will be sophisticated A.I. systems that will scan your body and create highly realistic virtual recreations, akin to the matrix UE5 demo.
You'll beam yourself into someone else's room and they'll feel like you're truly there.
That'll be a neat development.
But think of the even more cool possibilities, like having a virtual Japanese wife that follows you around everywhere like that holographic girlfriend in Blade Runner 2049.
Anyways my point is it's going to feel so fucking cool to be able to freely walk around and see these highly realistic 3D models that appear as though they're really in the same space as you.
I think this is pretty much going to destroy the television market.
I'm going to plaster pornographic animated posters all over my walls.
