just picked one up today for $150.
Already installed my goto arch+dwm+polybar. ezpz
- Intel Core i5 5th Gen 2.9 GHz (Turbo)
- 8 GB DDR3 Memory
- 256 GB SSD (stock but came upgraded with a 500GB SSD)
- Intel HD Graphics 5500
- 14.0-inch diagonal display (1600 x 900) & Touchscreen -- which i wont probably use
Ordered a backlit keyboard that should be here this weekend.
I was thinking another stick of RAM to make it 16GB, but apparently you can put two 16GB of RAM to make 32GB (even though Lenovo said 16GB was max).
Recommendations for the next upgrade?

have you tried tiling window managers? I switched to i3 a while back, really efficient once you start to remember the shortcut keys
I never use a touchscreen on a laptop but I'll always opt to get one if possible because they're so much more durable

dwm is a tiling window manager. i used i3-gaps like 5-3 years ago, switch to dwm then. tried xmonad, and bspwm but kept going back to dwm

I used to have a T450s. It was a great laptop. Even put a 4G module into it. I used Linux Ubuntu Mate with full disk encryption on it. I could never get used to a tiling window manager.
My current laptop is a T470s, and its a little thinner than the T450s, but I'm not sure it's better.

I just got a chromebook for dirt cheap and immediately realized I hate it and want to resell it. What's the point of having Linux if everything feeds into Gurgle anyway?

you should be able to nuke it and put a lunix distro on there, but there's probably hardware/firmware/uefi level google nonce sense on there as well

I got a little cheapo tablet/laptop combination. Specs are not spectacular, but i have a bunch of external HDDs with a lot of capacity so i am thinking of turning it into a file/backup box. I might run Cryptpad on it too so i have a secure cloud storage solution for my internal network. Yes. I am definitely going to be running CryptPad on there come to think of it.
Gonna roll Ubuntu Server on it first though. Got a modified Debian on it ATM, but i'd prefer a proper server set up in this case.
