Property taxes for undeveloped land is "dirt" (pun intended) cheap. The property taxes on my 5.7 acres was $600 a year because the vast majority of it was wooded/unimproved and 10 miles out of town.
ETA: I just looked it up, it's gone up a couple of hundred since I gifted it to my lovely ex wife.
Property Tax: $846 per year -

1 percent a year based on the value assests which is usually the last purchase price. it changes over time
so we're talking about 200 a month for all 20 acres. so 20 bucks for 2 acres a month. the tax is very cheap. its 1.3 I think in Nevada. and I hear like 7 percent in areas around Chicago (according to Red)
the biggest cost is weed abatement. which for 20 acres is a bulldozer size of work. rent a bobcat scoop at some rental place for probably 200 a day and they'll drop it off and pick it up.
you just drive the damn thing, leveling off the site while you're at it. I was told not to hit every sage brush because if you clear everything you have a shitload of clay dust kicking up.
just kind of make breaks every 50 feet. or whatever. -
