The firework stuff? Nah. Also you have a bunch of additives you need to include to make it suitable for use in firearms. I was hoping to somehow use the primer from the nail gun rounds and not have them blow up while i sub-optimally manipulate the structure of the round.
Also don't worry i got the good sense to keep mad scientist primer work far away from anything else explosive flammable corrosive or all of the above. -

Au contrair mon frere. Nitrocellulose which is what gives smokeless powder it's oomph is actually a HE with a VOD of about 4000m/s. Flash powder is 1000m/s.
It's all about barrel pressure. -

You need brass, primers, powder, and lead. There has to be a better way to get smokeless powder where you live and to scavenge it out of nail gun blanks. Even a .22 WMR round only has 2 to 3 grains of powder. I am not sure how many grains are in nail gun blanks but I do now they have about 5 or six different loads for smaller and larger nails. Just use black powder, surely you guys are allowed that. -

Looking at the specs, it says ramsets #4 .22 rounds can drive through 1/2 steel plate. Im veryconfused now -

Does is say what type of steel? I have .30 grain Hornady Vmax .22 WMR rounds that will pen 3/8 AR 500. I bet those nails won't do that. Also you are looking at a "point blank shot" with no rifling. At 20 yards I don't think they would be lethal. If the purple nail gun blanks (most powerful in the ramset product line) even create a "muzzle" velocity of 1200 fps with a 12d nail weighing around 117 grains would only generate about 375 ft lbs of "muzzle energy. Now if you moved that up to .22 WMR velocity of the Vmax rounds I mentioned at around 2300 fps you will get about 1375 ft lbs of energy. That would pen normal 1/2 steel. But it still would not be lethal at any significant range. -

Yeah thats what i was thinking. Not being able to stabilize a projectile, youd probably lose a bunch of energy. Hes talking about dumping out the powder and reloading it into 9x18 brass but if the blanks hes talking about are anything like my .22s, they dont even have a primer you can easily use. -

And yeah Speedy, i know what goes into making a bullet. And believe it or not black powder isn't allowed either. Primer might be a real problem.
I can literally synthesize high explosives but i don't have the means to keep pressure under control to any precise measure. So the next best thing is scavenge some smokeless powder right. I can get my hands on 9mm blanks pretty easy though. The up side of those blanks is that they got primer already. The downside is that i have all these allegedly stolen nail gun rounds just laying about.
Seems like a waste not to at least try. -

2021-12-29 at 6:43 AM UTCHonestly unless you know the specific powder n pressures n shit, you might have trouble even getting a semiauto to cycle correctly. Be more practical tomake some kind of muzzle loader but it sounds like this is mire kf a fun project for you than anything useful

I am aware of the challenges. But i got a firearm so that i didn't have to nigger-rig one. I might do so anyway, for the lulz. -
