I mean it might seem that way. if you leave evidence, no one needs to post it.
I was saying the original BBS rules on nearly all board (except maybe digital Mafia or some hack board) was not to be allowed to post it because it could be a legal sticky icky for the owner of the BBS.
I dont think it's a moral thing so much. its ended up with people getting murdered or having their houses trashed along with other properties. LOL the dude who flew to another state, lit a bag on fire on the lawn, the guy came out and this guy snuck in through the door and then hacked the dude to death.
I shouldn't laugh but it's almost cartoon in nature. -

Yeah but rules are for pussies and the cyber mafia isn't the cyber mafia because they like rules. And if you don't wanna get doxed you make nice with the people that have that capability, or you make damn fucking sure you got an entire fake life lined up, that you can drop if your assumed identity gets compromised. You can't trust anyone there, not even yourself. When you're dealing with people on forums like that just assume everyone can do some sort of damage to you, either by dox, hacks, malware, social engineering, what have you. Just treat people like they're armed.

Well, kind of the same, assume security/IT/programmer types even enterprising individuals with some decent problem solving skills are armed. Besides, most doxing is just having the patience to do some OSINT and SOCMINT, and you could learn it pretty easy, but people don't realize how much of their life is on the internet.

People who can only dox aren't strictly speaking hackers, dox is recon. And you keep your intel close to the chest, anyway, hacker types have an advantage. If you don't like it, avoid them, or git gud. -

You really shouldn't get friendly with people you meet online. I come from a family and even a period in time where people would invite strangers to stay at the house for the night. or people not well known but maybe worked with.
it sounds crazy creepy today but we never experienced any weird shit. no one hacked up.
today, people don't even trust neighbors. LOL

You can be friendly, just make sure you've covered at least the basics like, don't show your face as a rule, be mindful of the stories you tell, change small but crucial details, crucial to checking against a piece of data for your real identity not crucial for how the story goes. Ya dig? -
