There's thousands of miles of undiscovered terrain, mountains and forests out there. When the shit hits the fan, you'd be best to head that way, where they will have difficulty locating you. Live directly off the grid. They'll eventually pick you up on satellite and come to you, but you could shield your location/body somewhat. In ancient times, when invading armies advanced toward a city, a large percentage of the population would head for the mountains.

Of course when shit hits the fan everyone will be living off grid in the woods, the cities will be empty and everyone will be stumbling over each other in the woods...might as well stay in the city, gather as much tinned food as you can and live in a supply closet on the 16th floor of an office building.

The world would be better if Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were still things, and if China was still actually communist.
Maybe not better for everyone, but more interesting.
