   The simple reality of the Omicron variant - very infectious, very mild, not even a flu.
   
   Eventually this was bound to happen, covid evolved to peak evolutionary fitness, which means not killing the host.
   
   Omicron is more infectious, and will outcomplete and completely 100% replace delta the way delta completely replaced the first coronavirus.
   
   Everyone will evolve immunity to omicron, and the pandemic will be well on its way to being over by this time next year.
   
   The media won't have anything to scare us with by then, unless they talk up another economic collapse, like in 2008.
