It was just an example. The guy said plastic cups would be cheaper, or just buy a big bag of styrene from china

The styrene wasn't really the limiting factor it was all the chemicals needed for the reactions which are all very difficult to purchase in large amounts.

LOL I think Gigi has that. they're little plastic balls for stuffing Teddy Bears and dolls with.

that would suck having a K9 sniff out the styrene as a meth agent while they cut open the bear being shipped as a gift only to find no drugs LOL with it duct-taped back up with a quarantine or TSA DEA whatever sticker on it.

They can't ban everything, it will hurt industry. The stuff that's already banned does hurt industry. That's why I like working with restricted and hazardous chemicals like when I sold potassium nitrate to farmers you can sell it for any price and sometimes you are the only game in town with the explosives precursor handling license that can also carry 30% hydrogen peroxide so you can corner the market and double the price if you wanted.

Agriculture relies on chemical fertilizers. Nobody is making bombs or cooking drugs with it but the regulations are still there and there are inspectors that drive around small towns making sure everyone is following the rules. Not to mention pesticides and all the laws associated with making commercial beers and wines

As much as the government wants to ban stuff for whatever reason it only hurts the economy. People will always try to find a way to use the best product at the cheapest price or make something better.

mailing someone chemicals for the intent of making drugs is illegal in most places.

Don't end up like Bob Lazar

    https://www.vice.com/en/article/evjwkw/bob-lazar-says-the-fbi-raided-him-to-seize-area-51s-alien-fuel-the-truth-is-weirder

Lazar eventually claimed that, while at Area 51, his job was to reverse-engineer an alien material called “element 115” that he claimed was used to power an alien spacecraft. Lazar has repeatedly hinted that he took a piece of element 115 from Area 51, and that this element is of great interest to the federal government.

In the years after his initial appearance, Lazar largely returned to private life. He eventually opened a business called United Nuclear Scientific, a scientific supplies and equipment store based in New Mexico, and then Michigan (earlier this month, the company announced it’s moving to Oregon). From radioactive ore to ammonium nitrate, a quick check of Lazar’s scientific supply company’s website reveals the business caters towards the exotic and potentially dangerous side of science. A whimsically Strangelovian GIF on the site’s home page says, “Looking for some URANIUM? CLICK HERE.”

But now, 30 years after initially talking about Area 51, Lazar and United Nuclear Scientific have become part of a new and unusual situation that conspiracy theorists claim is tied to element 115. (It’s worth noting that Lazar’s element 115 is not muscovium, an element that was first synthesized in 2003 and added to the Periodic Table in 2015.)

I actually bought a small amount of chemicals from this site 10 years ago for a very high price like $400
amazing company that will actually send pure elemental samples to a residential address as long as you pay the hazmat shipping. I had no idea they were raided by the FBI before

Getting pure alkali metals was very difficult 10 years ago, your only options were to rip open batteries or perform dangerous electrolysis of molten sodium metal which could blind you if any got in your eye. But thanks to clandestine research anyone can make this shit for cheap themselves these days, technology and science has come a long way.
