Nah I haven't played on those but I use my lappy in bed, so I feel like unless im cooped up in a plane or something where I don't have room to run a mouse that those platforms wouldn't have an advantage. I've liked handheld consoles all my life for that reason. Honestly the DS line was never comfortable for me. The GBA was the comfiest system ever. I love holding the GBA. And the Switch is alright ergonomically but could be better tbh. But anyway it's still a lot of fun to just play sitting around. Oh and plus sometimes my GF is watching a TV show I don't really want to actively watch and I can sit beside her and just play a videogame with the sound off and semi watch and it's a pretty fun and nice way to be in each other's presence without necessarily interacting, like we can do these things we'd normally do separately in 2 rooms, without being apart. It's a different and comfortable kind of hanging out that is part of what defines what love is.
Ye that's the reason I'm gonna wait at least until Generation 2, 3 or smth for it to really become fully realised. Currently I just use Steam streaming on my phone with a PS4 controller.
Honestly don't buy a PC at all right now if all you want to do is game. Do you have an Xbox 5 or PS5?Naw, when PS3 was new is the last time I bought a console, I know they can be a good bang for your buck compared to similar priced PCs but after that I shifted to PC gaming. And consoles have picked up many of the negative parts of PC gaming IMO ( worth it, but there was some tradeoffs ). Used to be able to fire up the console and just jump into a game and start playing, where the PC players might have to fiddle with setting, install muh windows updates, update steam, update the game. The last few times I fiddled with a borrowed PS4 when ever I wanted to play it was always time to update the playstation store or something, then you get in-game in COD or whatever it was and it has to download massive updates and patches. Least on PC it's easy to entertain yourself with other stuff while the boring parts like that occur.
I'd be interested to see if the new consoles did / are going to do anything quality with VR or if its still in the gimmick stage. PC stuff was very promising but in infancy last time I tried the VIVE on compy -
2021-11-27 at 1:51 AM UTCYeah, AMD developed a hot new GPU technology and instead of selling it to Sony or Microsoft or Nintendo or using it for Etherium mining they decided to launch a shitty Sega Gamegear clone for cash-strapped PC gamers, and just let marketing bullshit and using 5 year old games to demo their "console" make up the difference.

2021-11-27 at 1:55 AM UTClol you just pwned AMD, heard. which reminds me, Kr0zs dad used to work there and quite Franky the company hasn't been the same since he left.
Also i like what u did with you're post up there, adding the K6 graphics. My friend gave me or sold me really cheap, cant remember, his old family computer when I was a kid and it had a K6. it was filled with dust and cigarette tar. and on the hard drive i found PORNO, i was like damn this niggas dad musta been smelling his finger behind the keyboard of this thing just huffin down camels -

I used to have a shitty consumer grade PC World HP laptop that I bought in 2001 with a 500Mhz AMD K6 Now-2 processor or some marketing bullshit like that. I remember what hell it was even getting that fucker to process streaming video. I remember the CPU heatsink stopped working right, so as an experiment I put an aluminium tealight holder full of water on it. It kept cutting out, but it was just a disgrace. I went to Apple laptops then, they were shitty, but a lot better than those shitty AMD K6 CPUs. With integrated GPUs!
Then in 2016 I bought another shitty consumer grade PC World HP laptop with a different AMD APU. I think it was an R6 or some shit. It was also awful, bad battery life, badly put together, buggy, shitty, didn't work right, etc. Nightmare to use.
I think the fault is mostly with HP for putting together exceptionally shitty laptops. Every HP laptop I have seen has been awful and drawn negative comments from others. Just a shitty brand. -

You can get 2/3rd the hardware for 1/2 the price, easy.
I've been keeping my eyes open on facebook marketplace and stuff. Might do a fonaplats "hey guys should I buy this computer" type thread soon. I'm not against buying new either, it's not really a limit but I am cheap and play a few old games. If I was more of a normie or into modern gaming I would probably be more into getting a PS5, xbox or proper gaming desktop PC
I don't see myself playing new releases that much except for fallout 76

I never really paid much attention to that but don't consider it as something negative to their reputation. It's typical Valve trying new things. Of course they are going to make a mouse controller before they even start working on Half Life 3.The nature of the personal computer is simply not fully understood by companies like Apple (or anyone else for that matter). Apple makes the arrogant assumption of thinking that it knows what you want and need. It, unfortunately, leaves the “why” out of the equation — as in “why would I want this?” The Macintosh uses an experimental pointing device called a “mouse.” There is no evidence that people want to use these things. I don’t want one of these new fangled devices.

I heard Steam deck is supposed to offer a quality similar to xbox of playstation 5. I have hummed and hawed over the playstation for years. I would probably just get a PS5 if rust console edition wasn't totally trash.
Here is my prediction: some select games will run "like consoles" at launch. But as time goes on it will run like shit whereas consoles will continue to be targeted.
If sat either drop a shitload on a real desktop or just realize you gotta be ok with low spec gaming for a lil while. -

Steam controller was shit too by the way.
You can buy a desktop, graphics card, and build an nice dual monitor desktop, maybe using one or more LED televisions, with nice keyboard and mouse, in a corner somewhere, for way cheaper than you can buy a brand new laptop or "gaming deck". It'll use more electricity, but that will be fairly minimal and will just serve to heat your lived environment. -

They say it's not supposed to be low spec though that's the claim at least. It was supposed to come out for this holiday season but it got delayed so who knows if it lives up to the hype.
If it can't run my library they are fucked for sure. I'll plug the specs into canyourunit.com when the hardware API is out against all my games to see how it holds up

I am a fan of his legendary work at PC magazine. Truly and industry pioneer back in the day with his hardware breakdowns really brings me back to the time of cool hair and doing cocaine in my hotrod

2021-11-27 at 2:30 AM UTCThe choice between PC and console is platform you control, vs platform you do not control.
The upfront costs with console might be less, but of you want to play serious games or install mods or legacy games then there isn't really a choice there. -

it's got external for an SD card so I don't really see the point in going for the $649 model
the problem with the SD is the slower processer of the cheapest priced one may not format anything higher than 128gigs. maybe even another 64. so it still seems like if you bought that, and you could get 128 or even a 256gig card, then it should still be ok for low end games.
You know I saw PS5 for 499 at best buys. that's 150 bucks cheaper than just a few months ago. -

the cheap one has a shitty read/write bus. The mid range and higher end ones use the better one so yeah I think the $549 is the way to go. If I played slightly shittier games I Wouldn't care but Rust needs a fast SSD or else it takes 10 mins to load a map

2021-11-27 at 9:18 AM UTCIt seems really fucking steep for a small hand held. I really want a PS5 now but I will probably get addicted to it and get a blood clot in my leg or something really fucked up. playing for 40 hours straight.
Thrombosis hurts. I had it once. your left calve is in so much pain. or right once in a while however, the left one is most common. you could die from a blood clot to the lung or even have a stroke if it goes into the brain.
so take a break from time to time to walk on a treadmill or walk around the house, up and down stairs. for half an hour every 3-4 hours. -
2021-11-27 at 9:24 AM UTCIf Mario AR becomes a thing in the park, I might buy a dedicated system and go to Golden Gate Park or on a beach somewhere and play it. maybe with a shitload of other weirdos doing the same thing.
I'v never had a VR system. not even for my phone. I know you can make one out of cardboard and download games but I haven't even tried that. I tried my Sister's kid's system once. pretty neat. but that was like 8 years ago. I'm sure they have advance greatly.
Anywho AR will allow you to get exercise and maybe if you're bold enough to play at night you might be lucky enough to get robbed.
