    most people had started off with a 2400 or less. 56k were expensive until cable and dsl came out. then they stopped making them because of the backlog and they dropped to like 30 bucks. even with 56k, people barely got half that speed. and it fluxgate and was not very stable because of the old copper wires worked shitty for faster analog routers. it was best to stay in the 28.8k
