From what I recall in the past the types of bars you frequent are...middle class/theme bars/wine bars.
You're going to be more successful if you hit up the backstreet dive bars. -

There is an "English" pub here in Houston I (used) to frequent a lot near where I work...The Richmond arms...even though a lot of expat brits go there it's still nothing like an English pub...no matter how hard it tries.

I do that all the time here. But the ones in Poland tend to be all a chain in every major city the same style of bar and they call the pijalnia wodki and piwa. There are some offshoots of this but they are all generally the same in layout and style. There is very little type of underground biker or pool bar scene here in Poland. Its very hard to find those. Or bars in general not part of some chain of bars. -
