Music Recording Companies Getting the Last Laugh

Remember when literally nobody paid for music. I used Kazza until it made my Gateway computer blow up and I started using Limewire. These programs were fine when it was the shared family desktop computer but when I got my own laptop I still found a way to get free songs for my iPod touch or maybe I had a basic android by then.

I would convert youtube videos to mp3 then put them into itunes.

    Now, oh how the turntables.

My bf torrents all movies and tv shows that aren't on the streaming services we already have, but as for music, I just bit the damn bullet and paid for premium in amazon music. Not only are people not downloading the individual songs for free anymore but because the free versions of these streaming services are so awful that anyone who doesn't want to be mildly infuriated will just pay to use the premium.

Damn if they didn't get us in the end. Remember when all those millionaire celebrities were crying and bitching about not being as rich as they could be, I remember a PSA being made about it. P S A Public Service Announcement. Playing a little fast and loose using the words 'public service' aren't you Lars from Metallica.

Back then I thought, there's no way people will stop downloading individual songs for free. I never would have predicted the entire platform on where/how music is being played would change.

Limited skips = pure evil genius. Overall streaming has made listening to music a lot less work. I also used to be annoyed that Limewire would provide an incorrect song title, mainly because the retards of the world would all start to call it by the incorrect title. Seriously, like no effort went into that.

Did any of you guys predict something like this? I really find it fascinating that in a span of a decade the main method people used to use to listen to music changed entirely.

I feel if someone is still illegally downloading individual songs in 2021 then they're likely still checking in on their Myspace page, editing HTML on their Xanga, burning CDs to listen in the car, setting their ringtone on their pink Motorola Razor recordings from the radio.

Do you still go out with litemex? I downloaded porn before with Kazaa and it turned out to be the twin towers falling. Came so hard.

Basically commercials commodified it. What's wrong with Spotify? That seems to be the best option. What Happened to Jay Z and his rich friends streaming service? It's only been 23 years or something since Napster, I hope he's doing alright

If a person uses a computer on a regular basis for work/home then I would think it was close to common sense that if you want the sound from a music video but don't need the actual video, a simple google search would lead you to a site that could accomplish this by converting the video to an mp3 or mp4, mpwhatever.

I'm okay with people in 2021 not knowing how to do the basic problem solving while utilizing google but what would really creep me out if someone in 2021 was actively downloading youtube videos.

like that's some serial killer shit.

I illegally download individual songs through youtube to mp3 converters

I felt like when I used to do this *cough*in 2014*cough*
it took a lot of time. I had to copy the youtube link, paste in the converter site, then after converted, download the file. Oh, so close but not done yet.

Then I'd have to plug my android phone directly to my macbook and use some sort of android/apple file converter app that would let me move the MP3s to my android phone.

    That's a lot work yo

Please tell me this process has advanced some since 2014.

Doesn't the youtube app close when your screen goes dark on your smartphone. Most people would like to access music and not have to have the youtube app open the entirity of the time. Also, at work sometimes I play youtube on my work computer vs. amazon music on my iphone and airpods. It literally will only play like the same six songs on a loop. I type in a specific song to start and then let it run cuz it auto-plays "you may like" or whatever. It will auto-play a song that I heard just 2 videos before.

I'm not an angry person and i'm getting riled up right now just thinking about it. Even if I choose a new song to start that's an entirely different genre, the auto-plays proceeding are the same damn songs GTFO with this bullshit. I'm working, I do not have time to go into youtube and pick a new song every time one ends.

I just default to playing Lo/Fi Beats to Chill/Study to, good work music IMO. my boomer co-worker said it sounded like porno music.

I don't know what kind of porn she is watching, the porn I watch doesn't have bakcground music, just basic amateur couple stuff and more often than not it's muted.

lol, I wish I would have said that to her.

    nope

I also rip albums (it's pretty fast sometimes) and use it for sound effects and other things

Sometimes the websites are a virus or get taken down the FBI.

I tried spotify but it's not really my style and doesn't have everything.
