    Patching a textured ceiling sounds hard to get right. I did a lot of drywall work and man fuck those shitty popcorn ceilings. I could never get them right after I made holes doing plumbing or some bullshit.

    I tried to re-popcorn it, was never happy with the finish, I just pulled it all down & skim-coated/mud the ceiling w/a nice swirl texture for the win.
