Before Star Wars, Before Space Oddity 2001, Before Star Trek, Before Buck Rogers or even Flash Gordon, there was Fritz Lang's award winning 1927 Sci Fi epic, Metropolis. It is sort of a futuristic Romeo and Juliet sans suicide and add Jesus. In the a city of the future which is dived between a working class and a ruling class the son of the boss, known as the City Mastermind, (the ruling class are called the city planners) falls in love with a working class girl. The girl is a prophet who foretells the coming of a savior who will settle the difference between the two classes.

I'll stick with Dune thanks
If you're talking about the original 1984 Dune it sucked. And if it wasn't bad enough by trying to stuff three books and multiple generations into 2 hours and 17 minutes they had to drip Sting all over the top of it. If you are talking about the 2021 version I haven't seen it.
I read the first three books before the 84 movie came out. I tried reading the fourth one but the storyline and plot got kind of thin. That is one of the big reasons I hate the 84 version. I had just finished the third book about 4 months before it was released. I left the theater wondering what I had just watched because it left out so many key parts of the first three books.
There are three Sci Fi books I have read that I wish they would make movies out of. But only if they did at least as good of a job as Peter Jackson did with Lord of the Rings or better.
