Point is, it would just never occur to some cultures that doing things that badly/cheaply is acceptable.

That said it's not like the west is a stranger to cheaply manufactured domestic garbage, historically. And the only thing stopping it from being common in the west today is the relative lack of domestic manufacturing. We outsourced cheap shit production, but never forget the Ford Pinto and other examples of white European folks being just as content to pump out pure trash.
The only difference is nobody faced a firing squad over the pinto.
