    i dug down and chexxed out the new caves but i havent ventured off to find any clifs yet

    the new caves seem tough because theyre so big theres a ton of spawning spaces in em = tons of mobs. several cool changes though, general mob spawning now requires a light level of 0 instead of <7 so you don't need a million torches to spawnproof
