I have this generic player I got for $60 on Amazon. I have a sizeable collection of records from my grandfather, as well as some that belonged to my dad and uncle when they were my age. On my own, I have a few Radiohead, some Bowie, Segovia, and Gershwin.

Suck in objective metrics as a medium for listening to music. But if you like their aesthetic feel, then more power to you. My beautiful girlfriend is a big record collector. She gave me a Gorillaz* record for Valentine's Day and it is amazing

HOWEVER, I would like to mention that records are great for one thing; art. One of my favourite pastimes is visiting thrift stores to look for records with great cover art. I put them up on my wall with screw hooks (which are trivially easy to drive into a wall by hand), and they look gorgeous. My favourite find so far has been Beautiful Noise by Neil Diamond, which has a phenomenal inner spread art piece.
