We should all take turns admitting something that we felt very strongly about it, but later admitted that we were wrong.
I guess it depends on certain factors since a lot of 'right and wrong' seems to boil down to opinions based off facts and not just facts.
Like for me, when covid started, I firmly believed that it was much more of a threat to me than it turned out to be. I stayed in my apartment for like 30 days straight pretty much and if I left I used little disinfect wipes every time I touched a doorknob or handle or whatever.
Eventually I realized I was going a little overboard, and funnily I was also NOT wearing a mask or anything like that. Then places started doing all the mask mandates and I wore a mask when I had to, but stopped caring about touching everything in public.
Then I booked a flight to Alaska and sort of came to a funny realization when I was in the airport, what with them having all these strict guidelines as far as proof of a negative test within 2 weeks, and then the social distancing and mask mandate inside the airport, where everyone is all spread out and it seems like maybe it actually is meaningful, and then boarding the plane and just realizing how funny it all was, that everyone that was just doing all these precautionary measures were now all jam packed together inside this tube absolutely breathing all of the same air, but we still had to wear our masks the entire time. (But it's ok to take them off when you're eating or drinking, for extended periods of time.)
It all just became a little funny to me. The thing is, I realized that people weren't mandating these because they wanted to fuck with us– they absolutely meant well and figured they were helping… well, for the most part. So I can't look back and laugh or be mad at the airlines or businesses that required masks and distancing, because overall they were just trying to help- their intentions were good.
I can look back and laugh at how ridiculous it all really is. Sports venues, concerts, all shut down, NBA having a season in a BUBBLE. NCAA canceling the football season altogether basically. NFL games and MLB games playing at empty stadiums some with cardboard cutouts of fans. LOL.
And now? They are all PACKED TO THE BRIM. no concern whatsoever, because there really doesn't need to be concern.
I don't deny the reality that covid is a real thing but I can admit I was HOODWINKED into its severity.
So that's my admittance.
You were HOODWINKED. -
