You cannot force an American citizen to stay in their home because of your cultural and religious beliefs.
My mom was friends with a muslim woman that got banned from going to work and her husband made her stay at home. We went to her house once and my mom talked with her while her husband was at work. I was really young when it happened and don't remember the outcome.
That's the thing about living in the west it's assimilate or die, if you step out of line of the dominant culture all eyes will be on you.
