Dreams are without memories.

  1. #1
i have recently had a dream where i was interacting with a someone that has been dead for a long time.

but in my dream we talked and interacted as usual just like we had always been albeit in some different, ever shifting environment. in that dream i have no memory that that person has been dead.

how many dead people have you talked to in dreams.

Dead people? None that i recall. People who never existed to begin with, probably two.

then where do these people came from.

did your brain just make composites out of all the human feature youve seen over the years or was their likeness derived from actual people youve seen but have not registered into your memories.

They are without memory yes, at least until you become lucid.
This tells us something about memory.
You can remember a dream when you wake up, but where was that memory recall when the dream started? You don't know who, where, or what the fuck is going on. You're just on autopilot, doing whatever the dream wants you to.
We recall our dreams when we wake up, but are unable in dreams to remember that we're sleeping. Maybe its because we're not trying?

I can imagine several centers of the brain going into sleep mode will have an impact on certain functions, including but not limited to cognitive abilities in dreams. But the memory still works for some reason, atleast parts of it.

its like we all have multiple partition of memories and we switch between them depending on the state our mind is in just like how multi-boot systems would utilize their partitions.

i mean i clearly remember the identity of the person i was talking to in my dream but have no memory of that persons passing.

Yes, that is the conclusion we must reach based on our limited understanding of neuroscience.
Memory is branched in some way or another.

Those two things are the same. you can remember something and at the same time not realize you remember it until the specific memory is triggered somehow. And yes of course it's a composite and a computation of all humans i have ever seen and interacted with as far as memory permits, how could it be otherwise? Also, imagination? How does it work? You composite from memory in order to create new things.

It all comes from the external world. Without input we've got nothing to feed out imagination with.

Even people in dreams that you have no recollection of ever seeing are simply composites of memories.

    There is no original thought.

Au contraire mon frere. Inventions are original thoughts.

if theres no original thought then why didnt the formula e=mc² pop up like mushroooms in the, you know the thing,

Lol yes but no external factors were required.

Surely we can battle over the meaning of the word original, but true originality is uninspired. It needs no stimuli.
    We do.

That answer was always there to be found. Never the less, it would never have been found if the work before it was never made.

Again, taking stuff from the real world and mixing it together in a certain way does not original make.
