I didn't get dsl or cable internet until 1998 or 99
I used comp u serve and aol to gateway that service. Which aol would load the page then mirror it and convert it on their version of a html browser for my aol software to run. Doubling the time. When html version whatever (5?) Came out it loaded much faster
I am not a network guru, I admit that. But then we finally got dsl 1-2 mbts and 3 months later Comcast or Viacom or whatever our cable was named at the time sent us a note saying we're setting up lines in yo hood, sucka. And I set that up and while the shitty old dsl was like 10-15 times faster than 56k I had last bought, cable was 80x that.
