after 20 years, why would more time make the government stronger? have a look at the green zones; how little of the country they actually controlled. the Soviets controlled far more of the country and funneled much more into infrastructure and still ended up getting served eviction papers.
the only options other than relinquishing control to the Taliban would be to either continue an indefinite occupation or completely restructure it to eliminate grift and corruption, but grift and corruption were primary reasons for the occupation in the first place -
