    I find this hilarious, some woke Afghan female CEO and WEF "Global Shaper" drugged up on benzos running around worrying about what happens when the Taliban get to her swanky mansion.

    I can imagine it being really interesting to see how everyone reacts. It must be like Berlin in 1945.

    Apparently they're moving some things from the US Embassy in Kabul to the Airport, to be able to get out quicker. The US Embassy in Kabul is a giant brutalist fortress, and cost a few billion to build, with "1,200 desks and nearly 700 beds" ... "a gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, fitness center, grocery store, cafeteria, library, TV/media room, meeting rooms, and a courtyard"

    Let them all die and go back to the Taliban running the shithole...20yrs a few thousand allied forces lives and 6 trillion $ wasted.

    the US never really held much of Afghanistan anyway, mostly just a few sections of major cities

    they would've gotten overrun a long time ago if it weren't for air support, throw in the whole 'arming and training the locals' thing was mostly just a grift for military contracters and there's really nothing in the Taliban's way

    they were never on a leash

    Russia had 90% of the country on lockdown and still weren't able to fully contain them (which in itself is a far cry from the tiny green zones the US controlled over the last 20 years) - the dynamic changed when the US gave them cheap anti-air weapons, which to a large degree neutralised the ability of the Soviets to use air support and standoff weapons to dominate battlefields, which is THE reason modern militaries are able to sustain conflicts like these without taking significant casualties
