Half of Americans of all ages are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to the Biden administration.
The milestone, reported by Cyrus Shahpar, the White House COVID-19 data director, comes after President Joe Biden this week met his July 4 goal of reaching 70% of U.S. adults with at least one dose nearly a month late.
While vaccination rates remain well below their peak in April, the number of daily shots administered are ticking upward.
"For the fourth week in a row, we have increased the daily average number of Americans newly vaccinated, and importantly, we're seeing the most significant increases in states with the highest case rates," White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients said at a press briefing this week.
He added that seven states – Florida, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi – "account for about half of new cases and hospitalizations in the past week, despite making up less than a quarter of the U.S. population."
He said that the seven states report some of the lowest vaccination rates across the country.
Still, several states are picking up the pace.
"We have more than doubled the average number of people newly vaccinated each day over the past three weeks in the states with the highest case rates," Zients said. "In fact, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma and Mississippi are now vaccinating people at a pace not seen since April."

An Alabama state health official on Friday revealed that nearly all of the COVID-19 deaths in the state were among people who were not vaccinated against the virus.

State Health Officer Scott Harris told The Associated Press that just 26 of Alabama's 11,600 COVID-19 deaths were people who were fully vaccinated, and almost 2,000 COVID-19 patients currently being treated in state hospitals are unvaccinated.
"I think it's correct to say that we wouldn't see these kinds of numbers if we had more people vaccinated," Harris said. "Again, the case numbers are being driven by people that aren't vaccinated, which is unfortunate."
Alabama has reportedly seen a drop off in the number of residents who are opting to get vaccinated. Harris noted Friday that the state has seen a surge in hospitalizations and severe illness as a result.
Health officials in the state have returned to advising people to resume wearing masks and get vaccinated if they have not yet done so in an effort to mitigate the spread.
Nearly 1,923 people were reportedly hospitalized in Alabama as of Friday. The state has not seen such high rates since late January, according to the AP.
Alabama saw about 3,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations during the height of the pandemic, and health officials warn that the state is inching closer to that number. Harris said on Friday that about 93 percent of Alabama hospitals' intensive care beds have already reached capacity.
"It's been reported to us from hospitals that virtually all of those patients are unvaccinated patients," Harris told the AP, adding that he is still collaborating with the state to get conclusive numbers.
About 34 percent of Alabama's population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and 44 percent have gotten least one dose of the vaccine, making the state one of the least vaccinated in the nation, the AP reported.

I just watched this video about an hour ago. The algorhythms that simulate you guys into my reality are getting out of hand. Pretty crazy.
And to stay on topic: Covid 29 has absolutely no impact on my life. The only time I remember it's a thing is when I see/hear other people going crazy about it. I could not give less of a shit about it. I'm used to entering stores with a mask on. THATS how gangster I am. I order most of my stuff, though. The other day I ordered pickled wine leaves which I'm gonna use to make dolma. That's a turkish dish. Pretty elaborate. You basically need a pressure cooker to make it but some people would disagree.

No. Of course not. When I went to the doctor and the nurse came in with the big horse needle I told her I only inject experimental chinese narcotica in a rather threatening tone of voice, took my hat and left. Never heard of her again.

Oh you! You might have forgotten who you're talking to but I'm ALWAYS free. You might think that I'm locked up but I'm going places you can only dream about. Again, nothing of that affects me.
