How can you call yourself successful and independent when you can't even live with woman or go out on dates? If you were truly independent you could do anything in life and be in any situation and be fully in control of everything at all times.
You refuse to date or seek out romance because you think you will be giving up control in your life. A real independent person can be in a relationship without giving up anything, a healthy person in a healthy relationship only gains and does better.
There will always be someone above you more successful because they can be in a healthy relationship without any problems. -

Tesla wasn't really successful, he died in poverty, alone and pretty much forgotten by most of the world for decades (until it became cool to talk about him).
Many of his plans/inventions etc were unrealized. -
